Furniture and Front Doors in The Woodlands
Fine Furniture and Front Doors, Finished for a Gulf Coast Home
The Woodlands is a master-planned community of eight villages, and its homes were built across several decades. The furniture and front doors inside them span just as many years.
That is why every Woodlands project starts the same way: with photos. A dining set that has been in the family for years, a newer sideboard with a scratched top, and a front door that has taken years of Gulf Coast sun and rain each need a different plan. Send us photos and we will tell you what we would do.
The villages: Alden Bridge, Cochran’s Crossing, College Park, Creekside Park, Grogan’s Mill, Indian Springs, Panther Creek, and Sterling Ridge.
-
Homes from many eras
The villages opened across more than three decades, from Grogan’s Mill in 1974 to Creekside Park in 2007. Older pieces and older front doors sit beside much newer ones.
-
Heat and humidity
The Houston area has a humid subtropical climate. Wood moves with heat and humidity, and an exterior door takes sun and rain on top of that, so the finish matters.
-
Water has touched the area
Parts of The Woodlands area flooded during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. If wood furniture of yours has been through a flood, pipe burst, or other water incident, see our water-damaged furniture restoration.
Premium Wood Refinishing
What a Premium Refinish Involves
A refinish is only as good as the work under the finish. For dining sets, desks, cabinets, and the pieces you plan to keep, we do it the thorough way.
- Dining tables and chairs
- Desks and dressers
- Cabinets, hutches, and shelving
- Antique and heirloom pieces
Full details are on our furniture refinishing page. If the piece is broken rather than just worn, our furniture repair comes first.
The Four Things That Make It Premium
Every one of these is part of our standard refinishing process.
We start from the wood
The old finish is stripped away and the piece is sanded to bare wood, so the new finish goes on clean.
Damage is repaired first
Scratches, cracks, and other damage are repaired before any color goes on. On water-damaged pieces we can also craft missing or severely damaged parts.
Your stain or color
We apply the stain or color you want. Tell us what the piece has to sit beside in your room and send photos of it.
A sprayed lacquer finish
We use durable lacquer finishes, sprayed for a uniform look and lasting protection.
Front Door Refinishing
Your Front Door Is the First Thing Guests See
We refinish wood, iron, and fiberglass front doors, in as little as one day.
Your door is removed, stripped, sanded, then stained or matched to the look you want. It is sealed with 7 coats of high-quality exterior finish and re-hung. We cover and protect your entryway while the door is off, and in most cases it is back on its hinges before the day ends.
Signs your door is ready for a fresh finish:
- Faded or sun-damaged color
- Fine cracks in the stain or sealant
- Peeling, bubbling, or rough patches
A door that faces the afternoon sun, or has little overhang to shelter it, usually wears faster than a sheltered one. Not sure about yours? Send a photo and we will let you know the cost and timeline.
Fine, Antique, and Heirloom Pieces
The Right Level of Work for a Piece That Matters
Older and sentimental pieces are some of our favorite work. Not every one needs a full refinish, and we will talk through the right approach before we start.
-
Repair or refinish?
If the original finish is mostly intact and the damage is in one place, a careful repair is often gentler than stripping the whole piece. If the finish is failing, water-damaged, or sun-faded, a full refinish can bring the wood back.
-
Worried about value?
If you think a piece may be worth real money, an independent antiques appraiser is the right person to put a number on it. Then send us photos and we will talk through your options before we start.
-
General care in a humid home
Keep fine wood out of direct sun and away from heat vents, dust with a soft dry cloth, wipe spills right away, and use coasters. This is general care advice, not instructions for a specific piece.

What Our Refinishing Customers Say
5-star Google reviews from customers who had wood furniture refinished or restored, quoted as they wrote them.

★★★★★
“QFR did an excellent job repairing a veneer door on an armoire I had shipped from Dallas to Houston. The door was taped shut to prevent from opening during transit. Part of the veneer on the door lifted off when the tape was removed. QFR … refinished it to its original condition. I recommend this company.”

Quick Answers
Furniture Refinishing in The Woodlands: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a free estimate for furniture refinishing from photos?
Tap Get a Free Photo Estimate or call (346) 236-0880, tell us about your piece, and send photos: the whole piece, a close-up of the damage or worn finish, any label or maker’s mark along with the underside, and one with a tape measure beside it for size. We will let you know what it will take, with no obligation.
Can you refinish a fine or antique piece without hurting its value?
Yes. We take extra care with antiques and heirloom pieces, and we will talk through the right approach before we start. Whether refinishing helps or hurts a piece’s value depends on the piece, so if you think yours may be worth real money, have an independent appraiser look at it first and tell us what you learn.
Can you refinish a front door in one day?
In most cases, yes. Front door refinishing is often completed from start to finish in a single day: we remove the door, strip the old finish, sand it down, stain it or match it to your desired look, seal it with 7 coats of high-quality exterior finish, and reinstall it. We confirm the timeline for your door when we give you your quote, and every finish carries a 1 year warranty.
How much does furniture refinishing or front door refinishing cost?
It depends on the piece or door and the condition of its current finish, which is why we start with a free estimate. Send us photos or give us a call and we will let you know the cost and timeline, no obligation.
Do you work in The Woodlands?
Yes. The Woodlands is part of the area we serve, along with Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita, Spring, Cypress, and Houston. We are based in Humble. The simplest next step is a free photo estimate: send photos of your piece or door and we will tell you how we would handle it.
