Kingwood, Part of Houston

Furniture and Doors for a Community Built in Villages

Kingwood was planned as a community of villages, and Houston annexed it in 1996. It is often folded into “Houston” pages, so this one is just for Kingwood.

King Ranch and Friendswood Development Company began the community in 1970 on a tract along the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. The first village opened in 1971, and Kingwood now spans 30-plus neighborhoods, including Kings Forest, Bear Branch and Barrington.

More than fifty years of building means Kingwood homes range from the earliest villages to the newest streets, and so do the front doors and furniture inside them. A door that has faced the sun for decades and a dining table that has moved from house to house need different care. Send us photos and we will tell you how we would approach yours.

Lead Service: Front Doors

Front Door Refinishing: Curb Appeal, Usually in a Day

Your front door is the first thing people see. Sun and weather fade the finish, crack it and peel it, and a tired door makes the whole house feel worn before anyone walks in.

We refinish wood, iron and fiberglass front doors, and in most cases the whole job is completed in a single day. Here is what happens on that day. Send a photo of your door and we will let you know the cost and timeline, no obligation.

  1. We secure your entryway

The door is removed and your entryway is covered and protected.

  2. We strip the old finish

With the door on sawhorses, we carefully strip away the old varnish or paint.

  3. We sand to the bare surface

Wood, iron or fiberglass, the door is sanded down so the new finish has a clean start.

  4. We stain or match the look

Depending on the project, we stain the door or match it to the look you want.

  5. We seal it for durability

The door is finished with 7 coats of high-quality exterior finish.

  6. We reinstall it

Once it is complete, your refinished door goes back on its hinges.

Antique & Heirloom Furniture

Heirloom Pieces, Treated With Care

Not every older piece needs a full refinish. If the original finish is mostly intact, its age and patina are often part of what makes the piece worth keeping.

If the damage is in one place, like a loose joint, a crack, a chip or lifted veneer, a targeted repair that matches the surrounding finish is usually gentler than stripping the whole piece. When the finish is failing beyond saving, a full refinish can be the right call. We talk through the approach with you before we start.

  • Worn, scratched or faded finishes
  • Cracks, loose joints and lifted veneer
  • Water-damaged wood, including crafting missing or severely damaged pieces
  • Upholstery wear on older chairs and sofas

If you think a piece may be worth real money, an independent antiques appraiser is the right person to put a number on it. Then send us photos and we will talk through your options.

Quick Answers

Kingwood Doors and Furniture: Frequently Asked Questions

Do you serve Kingwood?

Yes. Kingwood is part of the area we serve, along with Humble, Atascocita, Spring, The Woodlands, Cypress and Houston. Start with a free photo estimate: send photos of your piece or door and we will tell you how we would handle it.

Do you have to remove my front door to refinish it?

Yes. We remove the door, and your entryway is covered and protected until the door is finished and re-hung. In most cases the whole job is completed in a single day.

Will a refinished front door hold up to Houston sun and weather?

Yes. We apply a protective finish built to stand up to sun and weather: 7 coats of high-quality exterior finish, backed by a 1 year warranty on all of our repairs and finishes.

Can you refinish antique furniture without ruining its value?

Often the best answer is to refinish less, not more. If the original finish is mostly intact, its age and patina may be part of the piece's value, and a targeted repair that matches the surrounding finish can be gentler than stripping. If you think a piece may be worth real money, ask an independent antiques appraiser first, then send us photos and we will talk through your options before we start.

How long does it take to refinish a dining table or other piece?

It depends on the size and difficulty of the project. We usually stay between 1-2 weeks for a refinishing project. Send photos for a free estimate and we will let you know what to expect.
